Romi is an earnest and energetic teenager from Buho Buho, an ancestral fishing village on Morotai Island in Indonesia. Romi leapt into photography having never used a camera before and soon, exchanged his point-and-shoot for a GoPro. Romi started documenting the daily activities in the marine social-ecological system he calls home. From kids surfing on wooden planks to fisherfolk of all ages, genders, and size catching their prey, Romi used his camera as a tool to explore his surroundings more deeply and from an aquatic perspective.
