Every town needs a local superhero... and Lobitos is no different. With large oil companies drilling offshore, the military and mafia fighting over land properties, and mounting surf tourism, the needs and dreams of the local community sometimes get lost in the shuffle.
Together with Lobitos Cinema Project, we present a stop-motion video made by local boys Alexis and Ivan, who created their own superhero to stand up for the dreams of Lobitos, a small, desolate town in Northern Peru. Stop Motion is a cinematographic technique whereby the camera is repeatedly stopped and started, for example, to give animated figures the impression of movement. The boys imagined, produced, and directed the video themselves with guidance from LCP volunteer Adriana from Puira.
