Earth as we know it is in crisis. The effects are hitting closer and closer to home. In Morotai, a changing climate and marine degradation are already impacting local communities and it will be up to the next generation to deal with the consequences. Luckily, there are some extraordinary kids on the island, like our students and their young team of teachers from the tiny seaside village, Bido, who are up for the challenge. As part of our Action Communication Six-Month Program, these sprightly local residents created signs with positive messages written Indonesian for locals and English for the new wave of tourists to value their community, beach, and school as they do. Students brainstormed messages together to connect and inspire locals while drawing in visitors. Celebrating culture is a catalyst for social and ecological transformations.
